The role of /etc/rc.local and /etc/init.d/rc.local

□ /etc/rc.local, /etc/init.d/rc.local : They are exist to provide backward-compatibility. many linux assume that running rc.local is last step of system booting.

□ When I tested(=I added two commands and reboot), /etc/rc.local was worked, but /etc/init.d/rc.local was not. This was the same when there was no /etc/rc.local(=I changed name of rc.local to rc.local1).
